Oxfam America Advocacy Fund Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

This website is owned and operated by Oxfam America, Inc. Please read the following Privacy Policy and Terms of Use ("Terms of Use"). The use of this website is conditioned upon acceptance of the Terms of Use, and your use of this website constitutes your agreement with the Terms of Use. These Terms of Use may change from time to time, so please check back periodically. Your continued use of the Oxfam America websites following any such changes will constitute your agreement with the amended Terms of Use. The Terms of Use govern all pages hosted at www.oxfamamerica.org, www.OAAF.org, www.oxfamamericaunwrapped.com and www.hungerbanquet.org, and those hosted through our online donation and eCommunity areas (collectively, "the Oxfam America websites"), as well as donor information that may be provided to Oxfam America (including Oxfam America, Inc. and Oxfam America Advocacy Fund, Inc.) via other means. These Terms of Use do not apply to pages hosted by other organizations, including Oxfam International and other Oxfams around the world (e.g., Oxfam GB, Oxfam Ireland, Oxfam Australia), to which we may link and whose privacy and other policies may differ.

Oxfam America Advocacy Fund Privacy Policy

Oxfam America respects the privacy of its supporters. We have developed a rigorous privacy policy that reflects that respect. Please read the following policy to understand how your personal information will be treated. We will use reasonable efforts to honor any limitations you may wish to place on the usage of your personal information.

Collection of Information

When you are on any of the Oxfam America websites and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with Oxfam America alone, unless stated otherwise. For example, when you are using our “unwrapped” pages, a partner company will be provided with certain information in order to fulfill your order. Oxfam America may collect information regarding website visitors, including IP address, browser and domain information, and information volunteered by you, such as e-mail address, contact information and, for donations and purchases, credit card information. We may also monitor and track information, such as website visitor usage patterns using standard website tracking software.

Personally Identifiable Information

Oxfam America collects personal information from visitors and other supporters when they register to join our organization and become a member, make a donation or purchase online or offline, subscribe to our e-newsletter, take an action concerning an issue using our service, or otherwise participate in one of our online communities. Please note that our web server does not automatically recognize or collect personal information based on your e-mail address; the personal information we collect is always voluntarily submitted by you.

Use of Information

Oxfam America uses the information we collect about you to be able to send you communications such as our e-newsletter and various printed publications or mail appeals in furtherance of our fundraising, educational, and advocacy objectives. We also use this information to help administer and improve our web sites and for other internal purposes. If you have subscribed to Oxfam America's eCommunity, we will generally send you several communications per month.

Sharing of Information

Oxfam America will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information to third parties, except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it. Because Oxfam America is funded solely through private donations, we may exchange your personal information with affiliated third parties or trusted agents (including without limitation Oxfam International and its member affiliates) for fundraising, educational or advocacy purposes.

Please note: We are aware of and sensitive to the issue of unsolicited e-mail ("spam"); therefore Oxfam America will never rent, trade or sell your e-mail address for commercial purposes. From time to time, however, we may agree with other reputable, charitable organizations to write via postal mail or e-mail to some of each other's supporters, for the mutual benefit of both. If you would prefer not to have your name used in this manner, simply send us a request via e-mail to donorinfo@oxfamamerica.org, with your exact name and address.

Update, Correct, or Delete Personal Information

The accuracy of your individual information is important to Oxfam America. Additionally, we have tried to streamline our operations by making it easy for you to control the information that we maintain about you. Our eCommunity members can access their personal online contact information or unsubscribe to our eCommunity by visiting the eCommunity Profile Page. If you have a question about or change to your personal information, please send an e-mail to donorinfo@oxfamamerica.org.

Protecting Personal Information

When you give Oxfam America personal information, we take steps to ensure that your information is treated securely. Oxfam America uses industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving sensitive visitor data (e.g., financial information) with our site. All online donations are processed via a secure server, which we indicate to visitors through a pop-up screen on the site. Oxfam America does not store your credit card information for future use. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Oxfam America cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we use commercially reasonable efforts to ensure its security on our systems, and to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected. Oxfam America is not responsible for use of personal information by its partner companies. Please consult the websites of those companies for information concerning their privacy policies.

All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved by us.

In addition, please note that some documents and photos may have been published on this site with the permission of the relevant copyright owners (who are not Oxfam America). All rights in these documents are reserved to their owners, and permission to copy or otherwise exploit them must be requested and obtained directly from the copyright owners (the sources are indicated within these documents/photographs).

  6. As noted, this website may contain links to other websites. All such links are provided as a convenience to our users. Oxfam America takes no responsibility for the content of external websites.
  7. Any communication or material that you transmit to, or post on, any public area of the site, including any data, questions, comments, suggestions, or the like, is, and will be treated as, non-confidential and non-proprietary information.
  8. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account information, user names, access permissions or passwords that you use to access this website or any portion thereof. You agree to accept responsibility for all activities occurring under your accounts, user names or passwords that are due to your conduct, inaction or negligence. If you become aware of any suspicious or unauthorized conduct concerning your account, you agree to contact us immediately and take other appropriate action to deal with such conduct.
  9. If there is any conflict between these general Terms and Conditions and any rules and/or specific terms of use appearing on this site relating to specific material, then the latter shall prevail. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is deemed unlawful, void or for any reason unenforceable, that provision will be deemed severable from these Terms and Conditions and will not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
  10. This website is administered by Oxfam America from its offices in Massachusetts. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Massachusetts. Any disputes relating to the use of this website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Massachusetts or the United States District Court of Massachusetts.
